I was not raised to see people according to the tone of their skin. I was not taught to see people in categories or with labels. I believe the current social climate opens the door to a long overdue conversation about how as a whole all of us perpetuate racial division in our great country. I also believe in creating solutions that can help shift the American psyche away from division toward inclusion, toward a truly democratic, libertarian society where ALL men and woman, all persons are viewed as equal and that there IS liberty AND justice for ALL!! My suggestion is a movement, a campaign to remove the “race” checkbox from any and all formal forms or applications local, state and federal. In a small yet effective way, I believe it can and will help to move us away from the focus on difference in the tones of our skin to the inherent value that each and EVERY human being holds from within, simply our God-given individual value alone.
